THE VIOLENCE LINK

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ANIMAL ABUSE AND INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE

“When animals are abused, people are at risk.

When people are abused, animals are at risk.”

- Phil Arkow

The Violence Link and the Saskatchewan SPCA

As an animal welfare organization, the Saskatchewan SPCA continues to work to prevent animal cruelty.

Research demonstrates that when animals are abused, people may be at risk; when people are abused, animals may be at risk. In order to protect animals, we also need to help the families affected by violence.

Through our animal safekeeping program, we are building partnerships to assist all victims of violence and abuse.

The Saskatchewan SPCA's animal safekeeping program is made possible through funding from the Community Initiatives Fund.

The Community Initiatives Fund invests in the quality of life of Saskatchewan residents by offering grants for community projects that help support community development, inclusion, leadership and vitality.
